Important!

Installing Ubuntu Touch requires unlocking something called the bootloader on your device. Each manufacturer has different steps, so we recommend going to the website of your device's manufacturer and following their steps on unlocking your bootloader.

Unlocking your bootloader will erase all data on the device!

What makes Ubuntu Touch different?

True digital ownership

No hidden tracking, no forced accounts, and zero data collection. Your device belongs to you

Freedom from manipulation

Escape the "walled gardens." Ubuntu Touch gives you the four essential software freedoms: to use, study, share, and improve.

Community Powered

We don't have shareholders. We have a community. Every update and feature is built by people who care about digital rights.

Our values are important. This is what we strive for and promise.

A principled choice for a better digital world

Heart in code

Zero data collection.

We believe your data is yours. Period. The OS itself has no data collection. Unlike proprietary software where hidden backdoors are a constant risk, our open code means there's nowhere to hide.

Gitlab - full open source

Full source code.

Trust through transparency. Our code is completely open source. This fulfills a core tenet of software freedom: the right to study the code. Anyone, including you, can verify exactly what your phone is doing.

Community governance

Community governance.

Built for users, by users. Our decisions are made by a dedicated community of developers and users, not by advertising executives.

Total Control

You are in control.

Every app asks for permission for everything, and you always have the power to say no. No exceptions.

Everyone's voice is powerful. Even yours.

You're not just using Ubuntu Touch. You're helping us build it.

Your feedback is heard and acted on.

Have you ever reported an issue and felt like it vanished into a black hole? Here, that doesn't happen. We have short lines of communication such as the forums, Telegram channels and GitLab comments. Your feedback goes directly to our contributors, who listen and categorize.
