Device Setup

Welcome to Ubuntu Touch. In this chapter, we'll go over basic information such as the navigation gestures, adjusting your brightness, setting your language and other basic settings.

Swipe from the left edge: Opens the App Launcher, which contains all installed apps.

Swipe from the right edge: Switches between recently used apps.

Closing Unnecessary Apps: Swipe left to locate the app you want to close, then swipe up to close it completely.

Swipe down from the top edge: Opens quick settings and system indicators such as Wi-Fi, battery, volume, date/time, and notifications.

1. Open the Settings → Brightness & Display.

2. Use the Brightness slider to adjust the screen brightness to your preference.


Enable Adjust Automatically to let your phone automatically adjust brightness based on ambient light. (Optional)

To switch between dark mode and default light mode:

1. Go to Settings→ Background & Appearance.

2. Tap the toggle switch next to Enable dark mode to turn it on.

Set how long your screen stays on or when your phone locks after going idle.

1. Open Settings → Battery, then look for Lock When Idle.

2. You'll see the list shown in the image. Tap your selection, a check mark will move to your chosen option.

1. Open Settings → Sound.

2. There you will see various option like enable/disable silent mode, adjust ringer Volume, phone calls, message sound.

1. Open Settings → Language & Text.

2. Set your preferred input language and layout.

1. Open Settings → Updates. You can view available updates under "Updates Available".

2. Tap Update next to an app to install the latest version, then tap Open to launch an updated app directly from the list.
