InstallFest 2026 — Conference

InstallFest is an annual open-source community event in the Czech Republic that brings together Linux users, open-source enthusiasts, developers, and beginners interested in free software technologies. The event provides a friendly and collaborative space where experienced Linux experts help newcomers with GNU/Linux installations and troubleshooting, while also offering a program of technical presentations and practical workshops.

Installfest is an event that originated in America, focusing on the GNU/Linux operating system and its enthusiasts. They often helped their less experienced colleagues with installing this operating system, and as more people gathered, they started organizing so-called installation festivals, or installfests. One of the first installfests took place in a library, where participants brought their computers (sometimes even rare or semi-functional ones), and installations began. Seasoned Linux enthusiasts advised their less experienced colleagues, exchanging many interesting experiences, creating a friendly and excited atmosphere.
