The revival of the UBports newsletter

Hello!

We want to take this opportunity to welcome everybody to our ever-growing community!

Just for your curiosity, currently this short email newsletter is send out to 1529 people.

You know that feeling that there is so much to talk about, but when you are standing in front of a crowd you seem to forget it all? Well. that's me currently. So, I guess the best next thing is for me to start typing and see where my keyboard leads me. I hope you have a few minutes to sit back, sip a coffee and read what's up with all things UBports.

Who is me? Well, my name is Jeroen Baten, I live in the Netherlands and I have recently been asked to work for a few month as a marketing manager for the UBports Foundation. And here's the kicker, I know nothing about marketing. My main desktop is a Ubuntu workstation and my phone actually runs Ubuntu Touch OTA-16. But, I have to be honest, I only used OTA-15 for a day and then waited for a descent upgrade. And this new OTA-16 is stable enough that I can use it on a daily basis.

I am currently working on a few projects:

  • A redesign of the current website. There's a team of people like Renee and Randy working hard on that, together with feedback from the Ubuntu Touch Marketing community group on Telegram. And the site is based on a beautiful design made by Kaizen.

  • We are also working on a brandbook. A book that describes the design we use within the UBports community. A sort of guidelines for app developers on what colors could be used, those things. There is already a GitLabl repo where the final brandbook and some additional materials will be shared with everybody, But there's nothing there now, simply because we're not ready yet.

  • I am also the guy who contacts new members of the UBports community who sign up using the https://ubports.com/join-us page. To talk with them and see what they would like to do and if I can help them somehow.

Did you know that every 2 weeks there is a recording of a Q&A (Question and Answer) session? You can find the recordings on YouTube and there is a blog post with a link to the YouTube recording as well as some text about all the topics that have been covered. You can find the latest blogpost (Q&A 97 ), with a link to the YouTube recording, here: https://ubports.com/blog/ubport-blogs-news-1/post/ubuntu-touch-q-a-97-3749

Well, I guess I have given you already something to think or talk about.

Tell me, what would you like to read in a newsletter from the UBports Foundation?

You can simply email me at jeroen@ubports.com. I don't know if I can reply to all 1529 people but at the very least I can read them all and listen to your suggestions and ideas.

 Have a nice weekend,

Jeroen Baten

(Operational marketing manager for the UBports Foundatation)
